TRANZACT Offers a New Level of Data Security: Company Receives PCI DSS v.I Certification

FORT LEE, NJ -- May 15, 2007 - David Graf, President and CEO of TRANZACT, announced today that the company has received PCI certification under the Payment Card Industry’s Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Version 1.1. PCI DSS is a technical standard developed in collaboration by Visa and MasterCard and adopted by Discover, American Express, and JCB. This certification requires organizations that handle bank cards to conform to published security standards and follow certain leveled requirements for testing and reporting. The PCI standard forces companies to look closely at all potential vulnerabilities and apply industry best practices to cardholder data when it is captured, during transmission, when it is stored and logged, and when it is destroyed. PCI severely restricts access to cardholder data, limiting access to a “need to know” basis. PCI also establishes stringent standards on how merchants, service providers and agents must handle cardholder data, setting comprehensive security requirements that combine technology, policies, education, and awareness.
